Vintage 1939 Potholders Book No. 133 The Spool Cotton Company

Model: nw138

 Sold Out

22 pages with black and white photo illustrations and instructions to create potholders and several hot plates all with Crochet. Cover illustration by Henry Stahlhut.
A variety of different stitches and patterns in squares and rounds with a few novelty shapes such as a sugar bowl and creamer, Three Little Maids (faces with yarn hair), Chicken Little, Tick Tock (clock face with numerals and hands).
Interesting mat, titled "Tile", is done using 117 bone rings, size 7/8". Crochet work is done around the rings - center portions left open - creating an effect similar to eyelet.
Another interesting mat, titled "Loopy" looks like a shag rug bath mat.
"Non-Skid Checker" potholders, similar to a popcorn stitch in grid pattern look interesting, also.
The booklet is in good, clean condition. Gently used, light to average aging.
