Katharine Hepburn Alice Adams 1930's Hollywood Gown Pattern

Model: vc986

 Sold Out

Vintage Hollywood sewing pattern number 1020, circa 1935, features Katharine Hepburn. Definitely modeled after the gown which Hepburn, as Alice Adams, wore to the Palmer party, though the movie is not credited on the pattern. You'll note the nosegay of violets which Alice picked herself in the park because she could not afford a corsage from the florist and the double flounce which Alice herself added to the gown. See additional movie notes below.
The pattern is in superb, unused condition and in original factory folds.
Description from the envelope:
"Misses' graduation or party frock. Two circular ruffles outline shaped yoke. Shirtwaist collar ribbon tie finish neck. Gored skirt with low flare has two circular flounces at bottom. Skirt joins blouse under ribbon sash. Has short puff sleeves. Fabrics - Flat crepe, heavy sheer, net, taffeta, chiffon cotton voile, organdy, dotted swiss. Hollywood Pattern Service, Greenwich, Connecticut."
Size 18; Bust 36; Hip 39.
Unprinted pattern pieces, factory precut to exact size.
My notes on the movie:
If you're a fan of Katharine Hepburn or Thirty Styles, try to see the 1935 film, Alice Adams.
It is now available on DVD.
I happened to catch it several months ago on one of the old film channels and was captivated by Hepburn's portrayal of the lead character, Alice Adams. It's a simple film with a predicable Hollywood plot but young Katharine Hepburn undeniably shines. She is the movie and was nominated for an Oscar for that role.
